ABSTRACT
A l u m i n a has been u sed to preconcentrate hexavalent c h r o m i u m before d e t e r m i n a t i o n b y i n d u c t i v e l y c o u p l e d p l a s m a a t o m i c e m i s s i o n spectrometry [1,2]. Tr iva lent c h r o m i u m is no t adsorbed u n d e r these condi t ions . A detect ion l i m i t of 0.2pg L _ 1 w a s ach ieved b y this procedure . H y d r o u s m e t a l ox ides have also been u s e d to preconcentrate chromate [3].
