ABSTRACT

Global warming is a theme and continues to dominate the press and the political scenes and to affect the current way electricity is generated, albeit in small part only. Hot concrete problems in countries having, generally, more temperate climates can be tackled in a number of ways that are not necessarily available to hot climate countries or are available at considerably extra cost. Production during the lowest hot climate day/night temperature has its attractions as there is no solar heat gain and the only precaution that might be necessary is against hot winds. Several areas of the world that have hot daytime temperatures have very cold nights. It is possible that the psychrometric behaviour of water/air mixtures at differing temperatures can be put to good effect. Although cold air cannot hold as much moisture as warm or hot air, there is always a difference in the vapour pressures between different combinations of air and water.
