ABSTRACT

This paper is organized as follows. ln section 2 we discuss the beam-beam ring model. ln section 3 we discuss the macro particle tracking method for the beambeam interaction, and in section 4 a serial implementation of the FMM for the beambeam kick calculations. ln section 5 we discuss the parallel force decomposition ( FD) communication scheme. ln section 6 we discuss our paralJclization of the previous serial code which we denote as FD/FMM. Finally in Section 7 we summarize our findings and indicate directions r·or future work to increase the order of this speedup.
