ABSTRACT

The RTE is solved numerically by applying the finite volume method FVM and the DOM. The discretized equation is then :

Where the subscripts i, m, n and 2, are the radial position, the center of the directional control volume and the wavelength, respectively. A1112 is the face of the control volume Vi and am,„ is a geometrical coefficient that can be determined by a recursive formula : ct„,+„2,n = ccm±„2,„ — p,,,,com,„ as usually derived from the DOM [4]. In order to reduce the number of unknowns in Eq 4, a differencing scheme needs to be introduced. For example, the spectral intensities at the center i, m, n of the control volume and directional control volume can be related to the spectral intensities at the control surfaces i±1/2, m±1/2, n±1/2.
