ABSTRACT

According to [2], calculation of temperature profiles involves the knowledge of parameters such as minimum and maximum intensities and the spectral distance between the two maxima of the selfreversed line (see figure 2). In addition, these data are derived from measurements of radiances at different lines of sight. The result obtained for the lamp corresponding to figure 1 is presented in figure 3. Atomic Sc transitions at 393.334, 399.660 and 408.239 nm yield consistent temperature profiles within a tolerance of about 300 K. In the central plasma region, axis temperatures of about 4700-5000 K are observed. This value is in good agreement with results from plasma simulations.
