ABSTRACT

Abstract. The combined spectrum of white light pulses generated by fs pulses in air is measured here. This demonstrates that in spite of the high nonlinear process in the generation of white light pulses, the white light pulses are well phase-locked to the main pulses. The temporal coherence length of white light pulses, being the same to that of main pulses, is independent of the wavelength. Two spatially separated filaments are also generated from the same main pulses. The interference pattern is recorded, which gives another proof of the non-degradation of the coherence of the white light pulse, compared to that of the main pulses. Other characters of white light pulses, such as the pulse width and divergence angle, are measured too.
