ABSTRACT

We identify the distinct lines of experimental spectra based on the oscillator strength. Then

a simple collisional radiative model has been used to simulate these spectra. The Co-and Ni-like ions are included in this model and their ionization abundances inferred from the relative intensities of the 4f-3d emission in the experimental spectra. 2. Experiment The experimental set-up is similar to that described in Ref. [10, 11]. Three beams of the VULCAN Nd:glass laser at 1.05 |Jm at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory were used in a standard off-axis focus geometry, which provided a line focus with 25 mm length and 100 |jm width, giving an irradiance of-4.0x10^ Wcm'2 on targets. The temporally resolved spectra were recorded on HP5 films (Figure 1).
