ABSTRACT
In this paper we will describe our approach to establishing a high throughput screening laboratory. This paper will focus on the use of bar-codes for tracking test compounds throughout the experimental procedure and on the integration of the screening data into a centralized database. As an example, we will describe the automation of radioligand binding assays. However, the procedures using bar-codes and centralized databases have also been applied to enzyme based assays and are equally applicable to any high throughput screening program.
