ABSTRACT
Vermiculite-organic interactions have been investigated for many years, though not as extensively as the smectite interactions, but important generalizations have emerged in the understanding of the reaction mechanisms. Excellent reviews have been published on clay-organic complexes, including vermiculite, such as those of Weiss, 1969; Mortland, 1970; Sawhney, 1972; Theng, 1974, 1982; Lagaly, 1984; Voudrias and Reinhard, 1986; Rausell-Colom and Serratosa, 1987; and McBride, 1994.
