AXIAllY DiSPERSED TUBULAR REACTORS In reality, unless the fluid velocity is really high, all tubular reactors operate difierently than plug flow tubular reactors; that is, fluid elements in tubular reactors disperse in the axial and radial directions. Reactors operating with axial mixing of different degrees are called axially dispersed tubular reactors (ADTRs) (Levenspiel and Bischoff, 1963).
