ABSTRACT

Recall that a (partial) quasifield is a structure of type Q = (V, +, o) such that the associated ‘geometry’ tt(Q) is, by definition, a (partial) spread. Thus, our definition of a quasifield implicitly includes certain algebraic con ditions that ensure the associated structure tt(Q) turns out to be a spread. One of our main goals here is to provide a purely algebraic characterization of systems of type Q = (V, +, o) such that the associated 7t(Q) turns out to be a spread.
