ABSTRACT

T e sucking lice are closely related to both the chewing lice and the Psocoptera and are even more specialized as ectoparasites than the former. All pierce the skin of their mammal hosts and feed by sucking blood, their mouthparts and head structure being highly modified and specialized for this function.
