ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we present the basic aspects of two main streams of evolutionary algorithms: evolution strategies and evolutionary pro gramming.
Evolution strategies (ESs) (Rechenberg, 1973; Schwefel, 1981) rep resent one of the main paradigms of evolutionary computation. The
starting point was the necessity for building systems that are able to solve difficult optimization and search problems involving real valued parameters.
