Aromatic and Polyaromatic Pollutants

Due to their considerable importance as industrial by-products and toxic substances a wide variety of chromatographic methods were developed and successfully applied for the separation and quantitative determination of phenols and phenol derivatives in water and in other liquid medium. In order to decrease the detection limit preconcentration methods have been generally employed before the chromatographic analysis and in the majority of cases phenols were derivatized to increase the volatility and the efficacy of separation.
