There is another step in the procedure to determine the gradation of particles. This is based on the term called the coefficient ofcurvature which is expressed as

wherein D30 is the size of particle at 30 percent finer on the gradation curve. The soil is said to be well graded if Cc lies between 1 and 3 for gravels and sands.
