Chen and Kulhawy (1994) suggest that, for granular soils, the following values may be considered.
loose soil, Ed =100 to 200Pa (17.17) medium dense soil, Ed =200 to 500Pa
dense soil, Ed =500 to 1000Pa
The correction factors C c
and Cq indicated in Eq. (17.9) need be applied only if Irr is less than the critical rigidity index (Ir)crit expressed as follows
