ABSTRACT
Ear tagging is a long-term identification method that can be performed quickly with little pain or distress. Mice are restrained, and using an ear tag applicator, a uniquely numbered tag is placed in the lower one-third of the ear. Care must be taken when placing the tags. Tags could be torn out if placed too close to the edge of the ear.
