Health monitoring of composite plastic waterworks lock gates using in-fibre Bragg grating sensors

This new concept is based on using standardised doors (left and right doors adopt the same structure) made of layered glass fibre / Polyester material externally reinforced by horizontal stiffeners. In this new design a light self-centring door frame transfers strains through the lateral seal joints. Furthermore, the curved door shape realises a self-locking mitre during door closure.
