In addition to the design of the displacement amplifier, the pre-load method, and the linkage mechanism between the amplifier and flexure spline and the bearing system are also very important in the design of a harmonic piezomotor. The linkages provide the motion and force transmission between the amplifiers and the flexure spline. A b a ll-e n d linkage transmits the motion and force from the displacement amplifier to the flexure spline. Set in a central 'Vee' groove cut in the rear face of the flexure spline, the ball-end linkage also restricts the movement of the flexure spline in the axial direction.
