ABSTRACT

In flotation, the velocity of the three-phase contact (TPC) was first estimated by Philippof [I] who followed the method of calculating the rate of expansion of a hole in a free film between bubbles during bursting. The velocity of the film recession was determined from the balance between the work done by surface tension forces and the kinetic energy supplied to the receding film. This calculation does not consider the influence of the solid-liquid interface on the film recession.
