ABSTRACT

A few known flotation processes are described in Chapter I. These processes differ significantly in the use of interfaces for attachment to establish a separation. For example, one arrangement might be to introduce the dry mixture of particles to fall through air onto a free water surface, with the difference in wetting behavior between particles, some attaching onto the interface and others becoming wetted by water and sinking into the liquid phase. Clearly, this film flotation method requires a very extensive liquid surface for separation.
