ABSTRACT
In Chapter 2, we discussed the protocols in each layer of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) architecture. In this chapter, we will first explore various types of networks. We will examine network devices and network media. We will also take a closer look at network interface cards (NICs), switching devices, and network routing devices. We will see how these devices are put together to physically construct a network.
