ABSTRACT

The guidelines applied here have been tailored to the particular needs and requirements of this labeling, and the specific application derives its nature and scope from several factors (e.g., the nature of the product, the number and complexity of its hazards, the target audience, etc.). As with the design of the product itself, the application of these general warning-design guidelines will, of necessity, vary from product to product. Nonetheless, the example afforded by this particular application provides a rare opportunity to actually observe the evolution of a label from prototype to completion.
