ABSTRACT

Forensic. It means for use in courts of law or open for debate. Most chapters in this book deal with topics open for scientific debate. But forensic science matters are typically intended for open debate in courts of law and as such usually involve the examination of physical evidence encountered in criminal investigations, with subsequent presentation of the results in a courtroom setting. This chapter deals with one very small area of the vast field of forensic science, the examination of paint evidence by infrared microspectroscopy.
