ABSTRACT

Public perceptions regarding the importance of wireless Internet access technologies and their role in the corporate IT infrastructure have fluctuated dramatically during recent years. Until early 2000, investors, technology analysts, and corporate IT executives held very positive views on the future of these technologies and the prospects for mobile commerce and other corporate uses of mobile Internet applications. However, the post2000 downturn in the telecommunications industry in particular, and IT industries in general, have led to a more pessimistic view about the speed of innovation in information and communication technology solutions in organizations.
