ABSTRACT
Darcy presented his law of seepage as an empirical law by observing flow through filtration bed. Although we can derive the equation via a number of more rigorous continuum mechanical or statistical approaches by averaging Navier-Stokes equations over a Representative Elementary Volume (REV),11 we shall retain Darcy's intuitive approach for simplicity of presentation.
