ABSTRACT

The development of models to aid in quantitative risk assessment (QRA) for explosives storage is a problem faced by a number of organisations. Commercially, explosives are used extensively in mining and quarrying and have many uses in civil engineering. The storage of military explosives, which are often more specialised than those used in industrial applications due to the need for different operational behaviour (Marder 1998), also requires quantitative risk assessment (HSE 1999).
