ABSTRACT

Unfortunately, the German engineering community did not spend much attention to the memorandum. It was hardly noticed during the decade of Germany’s university re-organisation.

Almost ten years later the VDI Reliability Board initiated again activities on establishing a reliability curriculum. In April 2004 the board discussed the first sketches on ‘‘Requirements for the Certification of a VDIReliability Engineer’’. After that a lot of effort has been spent on investigating on reliability curricula in Europe and the USA. One year later, in April 2005, the board insists to get the issue and the activities moving.
