ABSTRACT

The safety system manages the failures that can not be confined to the level of the automation system during the operating mode of the system. They can not be confined by the automation system either because they were not taken into account when designed either because their confinement was deliberately postponed from the system. To do so, additional protections are added, i.e. passive safety instruments (presence of sensors, sensitive mats, . . . ) or active safety instruments (fuses, emergency stops, fire sprinklers . . .).
