ABSTRACT
Nanotechnology-the art and science of manipulating matter at the nanoscale to create new and unique materials and products-is a recently emerging and rapidly growing field whose dynamics and prospects pose many challenges to scientists and engineers as well to society at large. This technology has a major potential to generate new products with numerous benefits. There are already many products containing nanoparticulate materials on the market today, and there are expectations for more applications ranging from lightweight materials, drug-delivery systems, and catalytic converters to food, cosmetics and leisure products.
