ABSTRACT
An effective bridge management system requires a comprehensive data base. At the network level, the data are needed in order to assess the overall condition of the bridge network and to predict the effect of alternative preservation and improvement actions. At the project level, more detailed data are required to select the most appropriate method of rehabilitating a particular structure and to prepare the contract documents.
