ABSTRACT
There are about 46000 highway bridges in Czechoslovakia with a span of more than 2·0 m, of which approximately two-thirds are plain concrete, reinforced concrete (rc) or prestressed concrete (pc) structures. The first of them were built at the beginning of this century, the main part of rc bridges between World Wars I and II, and bridges with pc superstructures after 1950.
