ABSTRACT
The steel bridge over the Kishon River (leading to Haifa airfield) was observed to vibrate heavily under motor traffic. In view of the almost total absence of pedestrians, the problem was not one of discomfort but rather whether or not this vibration could endanger the structure itself. Accordingly, the local authority sponsored an investigation on the serviceability performance of the bridge, including various field measurements.
