ABSTRACT

Abstract AprogrammeofresearchinvolvingtheBuildingResearchEstablishmentandthe UniversityofSheffieldiscurrentlyinvestigatingthemoment-rotationrelationshipsof steelbeam-to-columnconnectionsatelevatedtemperatures.Moment-rotation relationshipshavebeenmeasuredforaflushend-plateconnection,bothasbaresteeland ascompositewithaconcreteslabacrossarangeoftemperatures.Initialrecommendations arepresentedforthedegradationofambienttemperatureconnectioncharacteristicsbased ontheobservationsofthisfirstseriesoftests.Thedevelopedmoment-rotation characteristicshavebeenusedinanexistingcomputermodel,comparingresultswith thosegivenbycommonlyadoptedapproximationsofconnectionresponseofthe CardingtonLargeBuildingTestFacility.
