ABSTRACT

An integrated evaluation can be carried out based on all the results mentioned above. Properties which are considered to be necessary and also the most suitable performance capabilities together with the degree of satisfaction from each resin are compiled in Table 9. Three new items (construction period, mixing and curing conditions, workability during placing of asphalt concrete) are introduced as additional properties required. These properties are considered to be necessary for speedy construction and also in producing a uniform quality for coating of membrane. Comparing the degree of satisfaction of the resins tested, the Hot-melt type is the most suitable for application as waterproof membrane. The suggested properties to be improved for each resin are also included in Table 9. The improvements suggested can be used as a guideline in development of new materials for waterproof membrane. For example, the crack bridging capability can be improved by decreasing the modulus of elasticity at room temperature and also by decreasing the glass transition temperature below −10° C.
