However, the cracks attributed to live loads applied for short periods may not be as serious as cracks due to dead load, since the cracks due to live load may be expected to close or at least decrease in width upon removal of the load. Therefore, the crack width Wo is equally important to the crack width Wc in the assessment of aesthetic requirement of reinforced concrete structures.
