ABSTRACT

The results in Table 5 indicate that outside exposure is associated with lower depths of carbonation than those for indoor exposure. In general the wetter the concrete the smaller is the depth of carbonation but carbonation of outdoor concrete sheltered from rain averages about 80% of the value for laboratory exposure. The OPC concrete benefited more from outdoor exposure than did the pfa and ggbfs concretes, as indicated by the ratios of outdoor sheltered to laboratory carbonation depths.
