ABSTRACT

Figure (3) shows the stress-strain relations by measuring the over all strain on the column. These strains are measured by vertical dial gauges. It may be seen that for the same load, the strain recorded for a column in group (C) is more than that recorded for a similar column in group (B) which is in accordance more than that recorded for similar column in group (A). Figure (4) shows the stress-strain relations by measuring the strain on the concrete surface. These strains were measured by using a deformeter of gauge length 10cm. The above figure, it shows higher strain for the column in group (C) under the same applied load. In accordance, the strain of column in group (B) is more than that for the similar column in group (A). It may be also summarized that small dimensions of mesh reinforcement caused more confinement for the column and in accordance give more ultimate strain.
