ABSTRACT
Total immersion of treated and untreated cube specimens in salt solutions(7,8) has shown that untreated concrete can become nearly saturated within half a day while surface treatments can lengthen this period to 21 days or longer. As the rate of capillary absorption reduces exponentially with time the greater amount of water take up occurs within the first few hours during the period of a rain storm.
