ABSTRACT

MOST OF THE FIGURES in this volume have been produced by a computer-graphics program, which simply plots sets of points and sometimes connects consecutive points with straight-line segments. The smooth curves that frequently appear have been formed by joining points that are very close together, or in some instances by plotting the points so closely that no connectors are needed. Except in schematic drawings, like the oblique view of the ski slope, the points to be plotted have been determined from appropriate systems of equations.
