ABSTRACT

However, this same generality also dictates that the solution methodology in such codes must be sufficiently general to apply for the entire range of flow regimes and physical processes to which they can be applied. The methodology cannot be specialized to take advantage of the characteristics of any one flow regime or any narrower set of applications. Limitations in the accuracy of results from such general-purpose codes can therefore be as much a consequence of the need to maintain their generality as they are due to any incomplete understanding of the underlying flow regimes or physical processes themselves or a lack of better submodels to treat them.
