Layer resolving methods for convection diffusion problems in one dimension

Bakhvalov (1969) was the first to introduce special non-uniform meshes for solving singularly perturbed boundary value problems. He showed that e-uniform numerical methods composed of these meshes and standard finite dif­ference operators can be constructed for some classes of problems in one dimen­sion. We illustrate the essential idea of Bakhvalov by constructing such a mesh for problems from Problem Class 2
