ABSTRACT

Ferrocement is defined as a thin-walled reinforced concrete commonly constructed of hydraulic cement mortar reinforced with closely spaced layers of continuous and relatively small diameter wire mesh (ACI Committee 549, 1982). Research into the properties and applications of ferrocement has taken a tremendous stride in recent years and a variety of structures using innovative design and construction techniques have been built and tested. This chapter is intended to provide a review of the recent developments in the design, construction and application of ferrocement.
