ABSTRACT

Understanding the ramifications of noncompliance and ways that organizations can get into trouble is helpful when trying to ensure compliance; however, achieving total environmental compliance requires environmental professionals to move be yond knowing where the trouble spots lie and to act affirmatively to reach what many perceive to be an elusive and unobtainable objective. Although total environ mental compliance requires considerable foresight, concentration, and effort to achieve, it is not impossible. What is required is the proper focus and frame of mind. The compliance-oriented attitude reflects an understanding of what environmental compliance means, what it entails, and the level of attention needed to achieve it.
