ABSTRACT
The attachment of air bubbles to hydrophobic solid particles or liquid droplets is a critical step in flotation. Despite many years of commercial application of the process, some fundamental questions regarding the mechanism of bubble at tachment remain unanswered. Factors such as solution chemistry, bubble size, particle or droplet size, mechanical energy, and flow conditions are considered important to bubble-particle attachment, but are very difficult to quantify.
