ABSTRACT

Isobutylene-based elastomers of commercial importance include homopolymers, copolymers of isobutylene with isoprene, and halogenated isobutylene-isoprene and isobutylene-p-methylstyrene copolymers. They owe their commercial success to a unique set of properties, including exceptionally low permeability to gases, excellent vibration damping, and good-to-excellent heat, chemical, ozone, and oxidation resistance.
