ABSTRACT

Figure 7 shows representative 29Si-NMR chemical shifts for silicate and silsesquioxane materials. The chemical shifts of 29Si-NMR spectra for silicate mate rials have been described using the Q", T", D", and M” notations [18]. According to these notations, Q refers to the NMR shift of a silicon connected to four oxygens, T refers to the NMR shift of a silicon connected to three oxygens and one alkyl group, D refers to the NMR shift of a silicon connected to two oxygens and two alkyl groups, and M refers to the NMR shift of a silicon connected to one oxygen and three alkyl groups.
