ABSTRACT
Real life fires start when a material is heated and its gaseous decomposition products mix with air (oxygen) to ignite and burn. Fires may pass through several different phases with different temperatures and oxygen concentrations (fire models); see Fig. 1. Real-life fires have been subdivided into various types (ISO TR9122-1 [1]). These are shown in Table 1.
