ABSTRACT

A chat room is an Internet discussion area. “It can be a Web site, part of a Web site, or part of an online service, such as America Online (AOL)” (Deltabrook, n.d.). Soon after William Gibson coined the term cyperspace, the growing Internet and new commercial online services created “places” or “rooms” one could enter to interact with other people; places where people of like mindedness, also called communities, could meet and discuss common areas of interest.
