tidal River Tees at Blue House Point, stockton which will maintain high water levels upstream. Associated sewer diversions will improve water quality and so new developments will be in an attractive riverside setting. To enhance the appearance of this flagship project, TDe held an architectural competition. This was won by the Napper Collerton Partnership with an entry whose centrepiece was a tubular steel road bridge. The bridge crossed the barrage and approaches in eight arch spans with an overall length of 160m. Watson Hawksley Ltd (now Montgomery Watson), the consultants for the barrage, commissioned Ove Arup and Partners to design this bridge and associated works.
